As some of you may have noticed, we are having 'a bit of a do' in the UK on Friday. Yes, it's the ROYAL WEDDING!!
I am really looking forward to Will and Kate's forthcoming nuptials, and I want to share this with you all, especially my international followers, as I don't want you to feel left out of all the excitement. So I thought that we should celebrate in style with a GIVEAWAY!
Look what I spent Easter Monday doing!
A couple of posts ago I showed you Sinitta, and suggested then that I may have another idea for this little crochet doll pattern (from Super-Cute Crochet by Nicki Trench).
So here is beautiful Kate, in all her bridal finery, complete with silk, empire-line wedding dress, antique lace train and a bouquet of silk roses. Somebody gave me those tiny pieces of lace when I was a child and I have been hanging on to them ever since, I just knew they would come in handy one day!
And I wonder if I have got Kate's dress right ...?
And here is HRH Prince William of Wales. Will is in a relaxed mood here, he has taken off his hat (couldn't work out how to make that) and his tie (forgot to make him one) and his hair is a bit tousled! But doesn't he look happy to be marrying the lovely Kate?
Kate and Wills met at St Andrews University, where my own DH went. It is a beautiful, historic town, with a castle and a beach. We still like to go for days out there at least once a year.
Anyway back to the GIVEAWAY. Not only is the winner going to get their own scaled down, crocheted versions of The Happy Couple, but also this beautiful Emma Bridgewater Royal Wedding plate, worth £29.95!!
We have been selling the Royal Wedding china in the shop and all I have left are a couple of plates. I think this will be very collectable in the years to come, and I bet my international followers would just love to get their hands on it!
And I will even throw in the red, white and blue mini bunting too!
"Kiss her, kiss her!" shout the crowds as Will and Kate gaze in to each other's eyes on the balcony of Buckingham Palace. *sigh*. I don't know if I can even wait till Friday!!
So what do you have to do to win this amazing Royal Wedding package?
1. leave me a comment about the Royal Wedding. How do you feel about it? Are you excited, bored, angry, uncontrollable? What do you think of Kate? Or Will? Or the whole Royal family? Be as controversial as you like. I, for one (despite being largely left-wing) absolutely love the Queen and Prince Phillip! And as you can tell, I have fallen for these two love birds. But don't let that stop you from telling me exactly what you think, I promise I won't vetoe any republicans!
2. Become a follower and leave a separate comment telling me so, or if you are already a follower, leave me a comment to tell me that.
3. Blog about this giveaway and leave a separate comment with a link to your blog.
So 3 chances to win, but there will only be one winner. And international entries are welcome, of course, as I want you all to share in our British Big Day. Giveaway ends Sunday night, 1st May 2011. I will announce the winner on Monday, the 2nd.
Good luck everyone! And enjoy Friday!
Hurray for Will and Kate!!
Gosh, Jo, they are amazing. I'll be checking out Kate's dress on friday to see if she has copied any of your details!
ReplyDeleteI all honesty I'm generally quite ambivalent about the royal family but I'm actually quite excited about the wedding - it's not often we get an excuse to just enjoy ourselves and watch lots of pomp and ceremony. I'm planning to get the kids making lots of paper triangles so we can make some bunting. The EB plate is lovely. Juliex
Oh Jo these are so funny, you must have insider info on the dress!!! I love the royals, and planned parties for Charles and Dianna, which lasted well into the night, but this time in the street where I live not much is happening, so I will be glued to the T.V with my wedding hat on (not really).
ReplyDeleteI am a follower, so this give me an extra chance to win this wonderful couple along with wedding souvenirs
ReplyDeleteLoving your little dolls they're fab!! I have to admit I have got quite excited about the wedding and my daughter wants me to take her to London to see it all....I am desperatly trying to convince her we'd be better off staying at home watching it on the tv. Did you see the man who has already started camping out to get a prime position outside the cathedral - that is dedication!
ReplyDeleteHi Jo
ReplyDeleteI'm really excited about this wedding! I love your crocheted bridal pair though I think you have gone a little bit overboard with William's hair!!I think most of the royals are a huge asset to our country (a few exceptions - mentioning no names!!)and I wish Kate and William all the best!
I just became a follower after seeing a photo on your Flickr stream.
ReplyDeleteThese are delightful dolls! I watched Charles and Diana get married years ago and simply cannot wait to watch William and Kate get married.
ReplyDeleteHow cool are your Kate and William!! And Emma Bridgewater too, my fave so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for this one.
ReplyDeleteI still have a Charles and Diana tea tin laying around somewhere. Now before you think I'm some sort of royalty freak, I'm not but I love the weddings. Looking at what everyone is wearing and the whole circus around it. I wonder if they'll show it all on telly here or just the highlights..
Anyway great give away, thanks!

ReplyDeleteI am looking forward to the wedding and getting up very early to watch it - must be a romantic at heart. I watched Diana's and Charles' wedding and loved it. Kate and William look very happy and at ease with each other so I am hoping all goes well with them. I am going to wear my hat and pjs while watching the nuptials.

ReplyDeleteJust wanted to say how cute that is, wonderful piece to commemorate the event. I finally got a chance to watch the movie, on how they met.

Hi JO, what a great giveaway!! Despite a few rumblings every now and again, here in Australia regarding becoming a republic, I am very much in favour of staying as we are. One of my first memories is of everyone having a calendar with the Queen's wedding photo on it!! I loved watching Charles and Diana's wedding, I sat and watched the sad day of her funeral as well. I am very excited about the wedding on Friday, they seem two sensible young people and I wish them a very happy life together. I hope the Press leave them alone as much as possible. I have great admiration for the Queen, but I think Prince Phillip has a bad habit of just saying the first thing that comes into his head, often with very embarrassing results.:)
ReplyDeleteI am already a follower of your blog, too! :)
ReplyDeleteI am SO excited to see the wedding! There have been programs, nonstop about all the royals here in the US - past weddings, the 30 most significant dates for the royals in the last 30 years, William and Kate-the Love Story, Harry, Diana in paintings (that's what's playing right now as I type this)! I've enjoyed them all! I watched Diana and Charles' wedding, cried through Diana's funeral, and am beyond happy to be able to enjoy this latest wedding! I wish them a long, happy child-filled life! Now, when's Harry going to take the jump?!?
ReplyDeleteHi there! I just signed up as a blog follower! (I already had your blog posts delivered to my Blog Reader, but I don't know if that counted?) Anyway, I found your blog via Lindsay over on Domestic Light and Magic. (Love her!) I love keeping up with all the goings on over there in Scotland! I live in New Hampshire, USA, but spent a wonderful year living and working in London about 10 years ago. I'm smitten for life!
ReplyDeleteI'm not too fussed about the royal family (they do a job like the rest of us, just they can't change career!!) but with an 8 yr old DD I can't help getting sucked in - I made buns for a brownie party tonight & we're taking her to another party on Friday to watch the wedding...
ReplyDeleteWe did have a giggle when I piped the royal couple's initials last night and put him first...8 yr old have great toilet humour!!!
I'm a follower on Googlereader - does that count?
ReplyDeleteMy husband was involved in the lighting of the beacons for the wedding of Charles and Diana and it was quite exciting at the time particularly as our wedding was only a few weeks later. I just hope that William has more luck in love than his parents did. They certainly look happy. I shall be watching. Love your Wills and Kate dolls.
ReplyDeleteFabulous! You've really cheered me up with that post! The real-life couple couldn't possibly look better that these two do, -really, really good. Not sure how I feel about the wedding, being a bit of a gnarly old cynic!? I'll be working on Friday, but will probably record the wedding to watch later, & who knows, even shed a tear (but that'll be our secret!)
ReplyDeleteI am a follower. x
ReplyDeleteI just blogged about your cheeky-faced happy couple here: http://mown-erica.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteJo - I have been a follower since I started blogging and I LOVE your blog 'almost' as much as I LOVE the Royals xxx
ReplyDeleteI am so jolly excited about Prince William (did you know we share the same birthday) marrying Kate (we share the same name Catherine) -
ReplyDeleteI have a group of girls coming over on Friday evening for a Royal Wedding tea party :) we will be drinking champagne from English tea cups, the bunting is up and we'll be eating cupcakes, lamingtons and cucumber sandwiches.
I watched Diana marry Charles in absolute awe. I was on a school trip to visit Charles and Diana when William took his first steps! (In New Zealand)
I simply can not blog about this giveaway SORRY as I can not bear having others sign up and lessen my chances of winning. You would hear my squeals of DELIGHT a hemisphere away if I won this!
Those two little dolls are adorable, I love all that hair you gave Wills - a bit of wishful thinking on your part for him.
ReplyDeleteYou have done a wonderful job, and yes, we will be celebrating as Katy is having a Royal Wedding BBQ at her house. I don't want to go into the draw, I just wanted to tell you how much I love your little dolls - did you see the wonderful knitted dolls? Graham Norton had them on his show, although I had already seem them before that - the kit was available through John Lewis, but yours are adorable. xx
I have to comment, as those dollies are the BEST thing that I have seen in a long while. The royal wedding is so exciting! I love Kate's hats, the feathered ones especially. I do like all things royal, because we just don't have that here in the states. I have followed the Kate-Will romance from the beginning, because he always seemed so sweet and reminded me of Lady Di, who I thought was very beautiful. Your dolls are a SCREAM!!! Very cute!
ReplyDeleteGreat job on the dolls Jo! Love Williams tousled hair, it must have been a windy day :) My girls and I are very excited and looking forward to the Royal wedding. I think the official coverage of the actual wedding starts at 10pm here finishing at 1am! I am letting the girls stay up for it although Caitlin isn't as keen as Amelia, who is super excited about it!! I think William and Kate are a lovely modern couple who will bring a breath of fresh air to the Royal family.
ReplyDeleteI think you know I'm a follower :)
ReplyDeleteThose are amazing. I am looking forward to it and remember Dianas wedding. Thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the dollies :) Almost as much as I love the Royals... I keep thinking that I will see the wedding of the future King and Queen... how exciting! I watched his parents of course when I was just a little girl full of dreams :) I could go on all day LOL
ReplyDeleteHahahaa....I was going to say you were a bit generous with Will's hair too!:)
ReplyDeleteThose dolls are amazing and your giveaway so very generous.
I am actually off this friday and I am hoping to be able to wake up at 5am and start watching the coverage. I mean I can watch the reruns because you know there will be tons of them but I love the thought of watching it while it is really happening, especially since Maria is in the UK. She has to work!:o
I'm a follower!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the chance to win one of your lovely creations!
Hi Jo! You really do bring a smile to my face! Love your dolls! They are both lovely - great hair for Wills and love the lace on Kate's dress!
ReplyDeleteI am so super duper excited about the wedding! Really looking forward to Friday and think I will be channel hopping so I don't miss anything too important!! I think Kate will look beautiful.
xx :) SV
We all look forward te the wedding of the year. My brother in law is a Londener and my daughter did her studies in Newcastle . Have a beautiful friday
ReplyDeleteThey are fabulous! I love the hair on William.
ReplyDeletex
They are seriously fantastic! You are clever!
ReplyDeleteSo - we are all ready to go. The bunting is up, the flags hung. Union jack paper plates and cups are ready for our celebratory picnic lunch. I have to admit that we Brits do formal occasions very well and whilst I am not a massive royal fan I am really enjoying the build up and am looking forward to seeing the pomp and ceremony. A day off from work is a very nice bonus also! I bet the atmosphere in London is electric.
Aren't they cute! Other than knowing that they were getting married and just this week reading that the wedding is today I don't know anything about the wedding. Even though I haven't lived in Canada for a long time, I grew up there and the Queen was on our money. So the Queen just seemed part of Canada but also quite distant. I'm looking forward to seeing what everyone is wearing.
ReplyDeleteHey Jo, not that i am complaining, but you got Prince Williams Uniform wrong Ha Ha Ha
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful wedding this morning! William was handsome, Kate was beautiful, and they really seem to be in love.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing that dissapointed me was when the couple stopped to bow and curtsey to the Queen, that she did nothing. What kind of grandmother is she. Any other grandmother, would have stepped up and hugged them.
I have come to the conclusion that this is why most of her children's marriages ended in divorce. They were never shown affection from their mother . . . .
